The car-size Mars Science Laboratory robot, known as the Curiosity rover, is touch down on the surface of Mars finally amidst all manner of fears on August 5 night. The rover will spend roughly two years probing the Martian environment for evidence that the planet is, or was, a habitable place for microbial life.
Curiosity rover survive the nerve-racking trip through Mars' atmosphere, and started beaming back clear views of its new crater home and the photos already have scientists buzzing.
