President Mohammed's shake-up of the military took the nation by surprise. Egypt's military was calm showing no negative sign whatsoever nor contesting the president's surprise decision to retire the defence minister and chief of staff and seize back the powers the military grabbed from his office in any form.
Nearly a full day after the president issued the new order, no unusual military movements were reported anywhere across the nation. The pronouncement has since transformed his image overnight from a weak leader to a savvy politician who carefully timed his move against the country's generals who stripped him of significant powers days before he took office on June 30.
The military appears to have accepted Mr Morsi's bold decisions. The official news agency quoted an unnamed military official as saying there has been no "negative reaction" from within the military.
