2050, the world's population will reach 9 billion



World population the total of all living humans on Earth  is estimated to 7.035 billion by the United States Census Bureau (USCB). The estimates projects the world population may exceed 7 billion 2012.

In 2050, the world's population will reach 9 billion, quoting the United Nations estimation that the world's population was growing at an annual rate of 1.14%, which is equivalent to around 75 million people per anum.

"Today, for every one of the more than 5.8 billion people on Earth nearly six tons of carbon dioxide are spewed into the air annually. As a result of our activities, the atmospheric concentration of this heat-trapping gas has risen by more than 30 percent." Environmental Defense Fund
Urbanisation will increase any projected carbon emissions by more than 25%, particularly in developing regions, also mainly through effects on labour supply. High productivity of developing urban labour, extracted from household surveys, shows that urbanisation increases economic growth, which result in increased emissions.
